Notice is hereby given that pursuant to the provisions of section 73 of the Species at Risk Act permit no. MPO-LEP-QC-17-010 is issued.

Activity affecting the species is incidental to the carrying out of the activity

The activity authorized by this licence is the bycatch of eastern sand darter and channel darter in the Rivière aux Saumons, Rivière Châteauguay, Pike River, Ruisseau Allen and Ruisseau Norton. The project is designed to take fish surveys in these waterways and should not cause mortality or alter habitat.

a) Alternatives: The best methods have been chosen to conduct these surveys. The chosen catch methods minimize the risk of injury and mortality. The methods do not affect habitat. b) All possible measures were taken to minimize any negative effects of this activity on the eastern sand darter and the channel darter. The chosen fishing techniques reduce mortality probabilities, and caught fish will be released at the catch site as soon as possible, and in the best possible conditions for fish survival, after identification and collection of morphometric data. c) The activity will not jeopardize the survival or recovery of the species. This activity is not expected to result in eastern sand darter or channel darter mortality . This type of fishing has no impact on these species' habitats.
