The National Aboriginal Council on Species at Risk (NACOSAR)
The Species at Risk Act (SARA) recognizes the essential role of Indigenous Peoples of Canada in the conservation of wildlife. Section 8.1 of SARA calls for the creation of an advisory council to advise the federal Minister of the Environment and Climate Change on the implementation of the Act, and to provide advice and recommendations to the Canadian Endangered Species Conservation Council (CESCC), a federal, provincial, territorial Ministerial body. This will be a six-member committee is known as the National Aboriginal Council on Species at Risk (NACOSAR).
Environment and Climate Change Canada is inviting expressions of interest from organizations with a direct interest in the SARA whose representatives wish to serve as a member of the National Aboriginal Council on Species at Risk (NACOSAR).
