COSEWIC Assessment Summary

Assessment Summary – May 2005

Scientific name : Lepisosteus oculatus

Status : Threatened

Reason for designation : This species has a very limited range in Canada where it is known only from three coastal wetlands in Lake Erie. Occurrence : Ontario

Status history : Designated Special Concern in April 1983.  Status re-examined and confirmed in April 1994. Status re-examined and designated Threatened in November 2000, and in May 2005. Last assessment based on an update status report.
